Game Music Fans bids farewell to fellow Duder, Ryan Davis

The news of Ryan Davis’ passing is painful and sudden, leaving those in the gaming community with a gaping hole in their hearts. He was 34 years young, and just married a few days prior to his death.

I spent the last five years or so listening to the Giant Bombcast while at work and in my car. During that time, I developed a sort of one-sided friendship with Ryan, as if in some way we were really good friends, and for a few hours each week we would hang out and have some good times. He had this laugh, this playful giggle that got you every time. He was always so passionate and excited about everything, and always found a way to turn something awful into something hilarious. He had a great attitude, and the gift of making those around him better. The Bombcast provided a window into his life, and after a while, I felt like I knew the guy. And even though we may never have met, I felt a friendship with him, as I’m sure many of his fans did as well.

One of my fondest memories of Ryan (referenced in the pic above) was his description of a fan’s odd satisfaction of stabbing dudes in the face and neck in Assassin’s Creed II.

On behalf of Game Music Fans, our deepest condolences go out to Ryan Davis’ colleagues, friends, fans, family and wife. May your laugh ring loud and clear.
