Today, the world bids farewell to Tom Clancy, famous author and Co-Founder of Red Storm Entertainment.
Clancy, 66, was most known for his novels starring CIA Agent Jack Ryan, with The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum Of All Fears all turned into popular movies. He also lent his name to many popular videogames such as the Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, and Ghost Recon games.
Whenever someone important passes, especially someone in the gaming industry, Death of Ken Hayabusa from the NES version of Ninja Gaiden comes to mind. It’s short and sweet, and a somber tribute to someone important. Perhaps it would’ve been more appropriate to send off Tom Clancy with a track from one of the games he lent his name to, but I feel that this track has nostalgic value and more meaning to it.
The man may have passed, but his legacy will continue on. Tom Clancy’s The Division is coming out for next-gen consoles next year.
