A large part of what has made the Halo franchise so iconic was Martin O’Donnell’s original score. The chanting monks, sweeping rock anthems and epic orchestral pieces intertwined with tribal percussion are some of the most easily recognized in modern gaming.
However, 343 Industries is now at the helm of the Halo franchise, and with them new a new composer, Neil Davidge (producer for Massive Attack). Rather than trying to emulate O’Donnell’s original score, Davidge is taking the soundtrack in a new, exciting direction.
Below are samples from the Halo 4 Official Soundtrack, releasing on October 22. Following the OST tracks are some remixed ones, which will be featured on a separate Halo 4 Special Edition Remix Album coming out the same day. Get a glimpse of the musical direction and let us know what you think in the comments.
