OC ReMix reaches Kickstarter goal for Final Fantasy VI tribute album

With Kickstarter projects all the rage these days, it’s easy to gloss over some really great projects unless word of mouth catches your attention. Well, fans of video game music and Final Fantasy music in particular can rejoice knowing that a Kickstarter to produce a Final Fantasy VI tribute album surpassed it’s goal of $15,000 in less than a day.

While OC ReMix distributes all of its music for free, a limited number of physical discs will be produced for promotional purposes. All the money made from the Kickstarter is being put toward studio recording and site maintenance.

The album itself, titled Final Fantasy VI: Balance and Ruin, is shaping up to be a tremendous tribute including 30+ artists and four discs-worth of music. Some of the industry’s best remixers and composers, such as Danny Baranowsky, Jake “virt” Kaufman, Jimmy “Big Giant Circles” Hinson, zircon, and djpretzel among others will lend their talents to this completely non-profit, volunteer project.

This amazing album is scheduled to come out later this year, for free, so get ready.
